Moncks Corner

The town of Moncks Corner dates back to the early 1700's and, as railways became a way of transportation in the 1800's, this town soon became a travel stopping point. The Train Depot was the social and commercial center of Moncks Corner, providing Berkeley County farmers a way to market their foods. Mail and other news of the outside world was brought first to the Depot.

As rail use declined and automobiles became the chouce for transportation, the Moncks Corner government officials very wisely chose to save it and revitalize this important landmark.  Completely renovated in 2000 and serving as the Town's Visitor and Cultural Center, the Depot now provides a place to hold special events and classes.

As the Lowcountry continues to grow, so does Moncks Corner.  Many new communities like Foxbank Plantation are being built as master-planned type communities with schools, businesses and healthcare being proposed into the construction mix.
