Finding the Right Agent for Investors

My father was a Real Estate investor, owning both residential and commercial businesses so I guess you can say I grew up with investing in my blood.  I have taken my family experience and have made it a specialty field in my business.  That said, finding a REALTOR who is investor friendly is not as simple as finding an agent to buy or sell the average home.  Why?  Real Estate investing requires particular knowledge and a set of skills that not every agent possesses.  If you are considering real estate investing, you need to find the an agent who has experience with real estate investing and the right area to begin your investment search.

Most real estate agents focus on working with people who want to buy a property to live in.  In contrast, not as many agents are familiar with the process of using real estate as an investment option.  You want your purchase to ultimately yield you a profit – something only certain agents are capable of assisting with.

Experience Working With Investors

There is no substitute for an experienced agent when you are trying to make money  buying real estate.  You want an agent who has worked with other investors.  It is not advantageous to work with a new-comer agent and endure costly mistakes that could have been alleviated with an experienced agent.  If you are looking for the fastest path to success, experience is the way to go.

Honesty and Integrity

Look for an agent who will give it to you straight right from the beginning, leaving you to decide if the fit is right.  If he or she feels ridiculous low-ball offers to sellers will not yield results, a good agent will inform you.  Honest agents will explain to you upfront what is necessary to be successful in purchasing properties and will be willing to help you in the investment process.  Integrity goes a long way in business, and should be a priority when choosing a real estate agent for investing.
